  • Factors included in the multivariable logistic regression analysis were age, sex, history of congestive heart failure, cerebrovascular disease, coronary artery disease, and severe sepsis and acute respiratory failure on admission. Nursing home residency was added for both any CVE and acute myocardial infarction (AMI). Liver disease and chronic renal failure were added only for AMI.
