All consecutive patients followed in the pulmonology consultation who underwent a level 3 polysomnography in the last semester of 2019 were included. Patients previously diagnosed with OSA or without all necessary clinical information were excluded. To correlate the score on the ESS questionnaire and the NoSAS score with the diagnosis of OSA, we calculated the Area Under the Curve (AUC) for the diagnosis of OSA (AHI ≥ 5/h), the AUC for the diagnosis of moderate or severe OSA (AHI ≥ 15/h), and for the diagnosis of severe OSA (AHI ≥ 30/h). An AUC above 0.70 and a p value under 0,05 was considered statistically significant. Results: 222 patients (72% male) were included in this study, with a mean age of 58,07±12.22 years and mean BMI 30.85±5.69 Kg/m2. No correlation was found between the score on ESS and an AHI ≥ 5/h (AUC 0.437; p 0.282), nor AHI ≥ 15/h (AUC 0.496; p 0.912), nor AHI ≥ 30/h (AUC 0.499; p 0.976). Regarding NoSAS score, the AUC for AHI ≥ 5/h was 0.741 (p 0.00), the AUC for AHI ≥ 15/h was 0.710 (p 0.00), and the AUC for AHI ≥ 30/h was 0.690 (p 0.00), providing a strong diagnostic accuracy for the diagnosis of mild or moderate OSA, but not for severe OSA.Conclusions: In our sample, NoSAS score proved to be a better screening tool to predict the risk of OSA than ESS.FootnotesCite this article as ERJ Open Research 2021; 7: Suppl. 7, 30.This is an ERS Lung Science Conference abstract.
