However, compliance to CPAP is a significant problem and has not been assessed in the Sri Lankan setting. Objective: To determine the CPAP compliance amongst patients with OSAS in Sri Lanka.Study Design: A descriptive cross sectional study under observational study category on patients who have been diagnosed as having OSAS and registered at Technomedics International pvt.ltd. (CPAP machine provider)Method: Subjects were identified by reviewing machine records. Participants’ objective data was provided by the CPAP machine provider and data on age, gender, total number of days used for past 90 days, number of days used for > 4hrs per day, average daily usage, residual apnoea-hypopnoea index (AHI), CPAP pressure 95th percentile, air leakage from mask were obtained from the secure digital memory cards. Results: 538 patient records were reviewed. Mean age was 54.93 (± 11.861 SD). Gender distribution, male: female ratio of 11:2. Age range, 22 – 92 years. Among the patients with sleep apnoea 68.6% (369) used the CPAP machine for > 60 days and 11.9% (64) used it < 30 days. The compliance was determined as “good” by usage of CPAP, > 4hrs per night for 60 days. 48.1% had good compliance. Those with low leakage and low mean residual AHI had statistically significant association with good compliance. Conclusion: Good compliance for CPAP on OSAS is seen is less than 50% of the Sri Lankan population.FootnotesCite this article as ERJ Open Research 2021; 7: Suppl. 7, 45.This is an ERS Lung Science Conference abstract.
